East Joins West: Chinese Astrology for Western Astrologers (2017), by Monica Hable Dimino
Monica Hable Dimino and Paula Sherwin collaborated to write this interesting new book about Chinese astrology, and Paula is also the artist who drew the beautiful illustrations you’ll find for each of the twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac – one for each hour of any day… or night!
You don’t have to know the exact time of birth to find which animal is yours – or which is the right animal for anyone else you’d like to check, but you will find that knowing whether the birth time is in AM or PM is important, so pay attention to that! Western astrology is based on Sun signs – solar – but Chinese astrology has a lunar calendar, with a year that begins at the first New Moon, so both the month and the day when each sign changes will fluctuate. It is also quite interesting to lean how the lunar nature relates to our more subconscious feelings and our sense of self and of others.
Fortunately a handy calendar lists the month and day when each animal sign changes from 1937 through 2020. So, if you know your birth DAY, and the birthdays of your family, friends and anyone else whose sign you’d like to look up, you’ll be able to easily find it. At the end of each animal sign is a list of famous people who share that sign.
Each sign interpretation includes a list of well known people who share that sign, and whether each of them were born in the daytime hours or in the nighttime hours.
